The Grace Porterfield Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund

Established by the Hub for Teaching and Learning Excellence in the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences (CSAHS), the Grace Porterfield Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund (GPTLEF) provides three internal grants to support and encourage scholarly inquiry and professional development related to teaching and learning in a post-secondary context:

Teaching and Learning Excellence Grant

Funds will be awarded to support projects and activities that explore and/or implement innovative approaches to teaching and learning.

Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) Grant

This grant will be awarded to support evidence-based, scholarly investigations to advance the practice of teaching and learning. Research projects in various phases of development are eligible for funding.

Travel Grant

Travel grants will be awarded to support attendance at workshops, seminars, and conferences related to teaching and learning.


 Awards

Up to $2,500 (CAD) may be awarded to each grant application.

 Eligibility

The GPTLEF grants are open to all CSAHS faculty, contract instructors, students, post-docs, and staff.

 Application Process

Eligible applicants are required to submit a complete application within six months of the scheduled activity (e.g., conference, workshop, seminar). Applications are funded on a continuous basis and limited by the total amount of allocated funds each year. Preference will be given to first time applicants.

Applications are reviewed and assessed by members of the Hub for Teaching and Learning Excellence Advisory Committee. Evaluation criteria for each grant is located on the individual application that is selected in Part B of the online application.
